A Happy and Bloooody Hot New Year to All!
WOW. I don't think I have ever felt 44.2 degrees Celsius, and especially on January 1st! I think that if I were in Sydney on New Year's Day I would have looked up expecting a wipsy giant hand holding a magnifying glass the size of Tasmania, attempting to make the top of my head smoke just enough so that I would know how all those ants felt when I was a kid, bored during summer vacation. Or something.
Some of the news reports show revelers basking (or baking, rather) in the sun on the beaches, quite a few of them finding relief from the heat in the ocean, under an umbrella, or perhaps wearing SPF 500. Next year, I am looking forward to being one of those people, wiggling toes in the sand instead of wiggling under a blanket to stay warm ...
